Michael WaringCEO and Director
Michael Waring founded Galileo in 2000 and has served as the firm’s CEO since its inception. He is among Canada’s most experienced small and mid-cap equities portfolio managers.
Before founding Galileo in 2000, Mr. Waring was Vice President, Director and Portfolio Manager for KBSH Capital Management Inc. from 1985 to 1999. Michael is a CFA charter holder and member of the Toronto CFA Society. He holds an MBA from the University of Western Ontario.
A committed philanthropist, he founded Kids In Class, a registered charity that builds schools and provides financial support to children and their families in developing countries. The charity’s current area of focus is in Vietnam and Michael frequently travels to rural areas in that country to personally oversee the charity’s projects.
Mr. Waring is the portfolio manager for the Galileo High Income Plus Fund and the Galileo Growth and Income Fund.
Evelyn FooPresident, CFO, CCO & Chief Operating Officer
Ms. Foo joined Galileo in 2009 as CFO and in 2015 was appointed as COO overseeing the financial, operational and compliance of the firm.
Prior to joining Galileo, Evelyn had over 20 years of experience serving in senior capacities at several highly regarded investment and financial institutions including: Templeton Management Inc., where she was Controller, Mutual Fund operations and with Investors, Bank & Trust Company as the General Manager of their Canadian Operations. She also held the position of Senior Manager, External Fund Services at Toronto-Dominion Bank and served as Senior Director, CIBC Mutual Funds with Canadian Imperial Bank.
Ms. Foo is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada. She graduated in 1987 with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto and became a Chartered Accountant in 1991 after serving at Coopers & Lybrand.
CIO and Portfolio Manager
Samuel Pelaez joined Galileo in 2015. He previously served as an Investment Analyst at US Global Investors, a boutique U.S. based investment management firm. Mr. Pelaez graduated from the Schulich School of Business with Distinction in 2012. He also holds a Masters in Finance degree from The University of Cambridge. Samuel is a CFA charter holder and member of the Toronto CFA Society.
Mr. Pelaez is the portfolio manager for the Galileo Growth and Income Fund.
Ms. Daye joined Galileo in 2005, serving in multiple roles over her tenure with the company. She currently acts as the firm’s head trader, responsible for trading securities for the fund’s portfolios.
Ms. Daye has completed the Canadian Securities Course and is a graduate of St. Mary’s University where she received a Commerce degree.
