Galileo is unique in that we have a passion for our work but also the broader community and we show it every day in the duty of care we show our unitholders and advisors and the support we provide to important organizations such as Kids in Class.
Kids in Class was established to improve the lives of children in developing nations. Kids in Class invests in school construction, school books, early childhood care, teacher training and the provision of water and sanitation for schools and provides knowledge and skills to families to break the cycle of poverty and strengthen their communities.
One of the most recent successes for Kids in Class is in Vietnam’s Ha Giang province. Through a special community development fund, educational materials, toys, desks and furniture have been purchased for schools in 25 villages in the region, cooking supplies are helping to feed 35 children at a semi-boarding school in Ban Luoc and 12 classrooms have been built in the Chien Po and San Sa Ho communes. In total, over 100 families are receiving resources and training to help turn their dreams into reality.
Donations made to Kids in Class are managed by TD Waterhouse Private Giving Foundation (www.tdwaterhouse.ca/privategiving). Income earned by the endowment is earmarked solely for Plan Canada, one of the world’s oldest and largest international development agencies.
